Job Description

The Christian Leader editor directs the production of the magazine of the U.S. Conference of Mennonite
Brethren Churches as well as the magazine’s social media platforms and website. The editor reports to
the USMB National Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plan, oversee and manage the production of six issues of the Christian Leader annually.
  2. Maintain the Christian Leader website and social media platforms.
  3. Publish and promote C-Link, the biweekly e-news digest.
  4. Set, plan and manage the Christian Leader budget, including reviewing monthly statements,
    completing monthly payment and billing statements and purchasing equipment and supplies.
  5. Manage advertising sales, scheduling and compliance with U.S.P.S. guidelines. Coordinate
    magazine inserts with USMB office.
  6. Supervise and work alongside the associate editor, contracted labor and freelance writers.
  7. Write content as needed.
  8. Maintain communication with Mennonite Brethren ministries and leaders at the national,
    district and local levels, Anabaptist/Mennonite ministries, professional organizations and other
    individuals and organizations as appropriate.
  9. Participate in monthly USMB staff meetings.
  10. Meet annually with the Editorial Committee to plan feature themes and content for upcoming
    issues in alignment with USMB principles.
  11. Attend and report on district conventions and national Mennonite Brethren events.
  12. Complete annual Statement of Ownership as required by the U.S. Postal Service.
  13. Manage and keep up-to-date the C-Link mailing list and Christian Leader mailing list.
  14. Set and keep record of policies related to the various Christian Leader platforms, including
    advertising rates and policies, style guide, payment rates, etc.
  15. Pursue professional enrichment opportunities and attend professional meetings.
  16. Plan and oversee Readership Survey every five years.
  17. Report to the USMB national director and carry out assignments as requested.
