Protect Your Congregation from a Gunman

Recently we all heard about a tragic shooting in a church, this one in Sutherland Springs, Texas. The loss of life and injuring of many others was horrific to see and read about. It’s happened before. Sadly, it could happen again. Because of this, many churches are now actively preparing for an active shooter event like this—one we all pray will never happen.

As the national director, I encourage our churches to be prepared for facing such a threat, even though the odds are that it won’t happen to your church. The article below provides some ideas for how to prepare your church. It does not prescribe meeting violence with violence.

I’m sure there are other resources available that also do a good job of helping a church to prepare well for an active shooter situation. If you have good resources, please share those with the rest of us.

I recommend that you read the article below to get started with an active plan for protecting the wonderful people of your church family.
