Webinar: About Face: Honor-Shame Culture

This webinar is one of an open MB series exploring the spiritual life titled, About Face: Honor-Shame Culture and Why it Matters for Ministry Locally and Globally. Andy Owen and Mark Baker were the facilitators for this discussion.

This is an interactive discussion designed to enhance evangelism and discipleship in our context. The webinar begins with a brief explanation of the differences between a Western innocence-guilt orientation and the honor-shame dynamic common in much of the world. Andy and Mark share examples of how awareness of honor-shame facilitates evangelism and discipleship not only in foreign contexts but in North America as well.

Andy Owen is a missionary serving with Multiply in Thailand. Mark Baker is a professor at Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary, former missionary in Honduras and co-author of Ministering in Honor-Shame Cultures: Biblical Foundations and Practical Essentials.

The webinar series is co-sponsored by the FPBS Center for Anabaptist Studies (CABS) and the U.S. Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches (USMB.)
