How is God at work in your life? How has God answered your prayers? How has God comforted you during a difficult time? God is at work in our lives and we all have a story to tell. “One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty…” Psalm 145:4-5a

We share our stories to give glory to God.

Before Jesus walked the earth, God’s people were instructed to share their stories. In 1 Chronicles 16:8 we read, “Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!”

We share our stories to tell of God’s power.

When you realize God has done a significant work in your life, Mark 5:19 reminds us we are to, “… go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.”

We share our stories to encourage one another.

Sharing stories of God’s faithfulness in our lives gives others encouragement that God will be faithful to them, too. In Romans 1:12 we read, “…that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.”

We share our stories to comfort each other.

We all go through difficulties and trials, but God wants to do more than comfort us in our trials, He wants to fill us with compassion and encouragement so we can comfort others. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

When God does something wonderful in your life, your first response should be to treasure and be grateful for it. But your next response should be to share it with others. Joy and peace are meant to be shared as often as possible.

So, what’s your story? How can you encourage someone or give glory to God by sharing what God has done in your life?

We invite you to share your story with us, and we would like to share your story with others in our MB family. You may want to tell a short story (a paragraph or two) or a long story (a full page), but we hope you share your story – God just may use it to encourage someone today!

Details: Please submit your story by email to Lori@usmb2stg.wpengine.com. You must provide your name when submitting your story, but you may request to remain anonymous when we share it with our MB family. We may share your story in print, on this website or on social media.

THE STORIES

Michael Cherenkov grew up in the Soviet Union at a time when most everyone marched together in columns, singing songs to glorify the communist leaders. His father was jailed for his faith and his mother was expelled from the university she was attending. When he was rejected by his teachers and students, he began to see God moving in his life in a very special way. Michael chose to go against the stream and follow Jesus and he is still swimming upstream today. Read Michael's story.
