Cookouts and Movie Nights!

At Pine Acres Church in Weatherford, Oklahoma, we are celebrating Summer with a cookout at Red Rock Canyon. Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful state park with a deep canyon, located about 20 miles from the church. We didn’t advertise in the community, but the cookout is open to anyone and church families are welcome to invite their friends. The church is providing the hamburgers and all the fixings, drinks and paper goods, and individuals will bring their favorite side dish.  After the cookout people can enjoy the surrounding area and games like Corn Hole Toss, Horseshoes, Volleyball, 9-Square in the Air, Bochy Ball and whatever else people may bring. It’s a fun event for our church family.

On a Sunday evening in July, we are planning an indoor movie night. After church that morning, we will ask people to stay for a few minutes to help clear out all the chairs from the sanctuary. Later in the evening people are invited to carry in blankets and lawn chairs and set up their “camping spot” in the empty sanctuary. There will be sign-ups to bring either a cake or homemade ice cream, or both!  The church will show a family-friendly movie on the big screen. This is a great way to get out of the heat and enjoy a fun evening with our church family.
